Tuesday-Wednesday,
May 27-28 9 am - 4 pm New Student Registration
CHHS Building, Room 267 (#60 on the
map)
Bring your passport and your I-20 and I-94 documents. Pay
for your tuition, fees and health insurance. You are expected to pay your tuition and fees in full at registration.
Talk to the ELTI Director if you have a problem that keeps you from paying all
of your tuition and fees. Housing bills may be paid at the Cashier’s Office
in Reese Building, #36 on map.
Wednesday, May 28 3:00 pm New Student Bank Meeting (optional)
CHHS Building, Room 279
Representatives from Wachovia Bank will help you set up bank accounts because you should not carry large amounts of cash with you. Bring your passport and your money.
4:30 pm New Student Campus Tour (optional)
Meet outside CHHS 267 to see the UNC Charlotte campus. We will visit classrooms, the
library, the bookstore, the student activity center, the
health center and other important spots on campus.

Learn about life at ELTI and UNC Charlotte. Meet your
teachers and classmates. We will give you information about being a student
here. This meeting is very important.

Learn about resources at UNC Charlotte that can help you
feel at home. Guest speakers will
tell you about the university Writing Center, Recreational Services, Brocker Health Center, and the Counsleing Center. This meeting is very important.
3 pm Health Privacy Meeting (New
Students—REQUIRED!)

Before Brocker Health Center may treat you for an illness or injury, you must sign a form that explains HIPAA, which is a health privacy law. We will explain HIPAA to you at this meeting.

Placement Test Cone Center, Room 210
We will use the scores from these tests to place you in
the best level, so make sure you get enough sleep Thursday night! The test
begins at 9:00; please be there a few minutes early.

Resource Center (LRC) Tour
College of Education Bldg., #52 on the map, behind the SAC
The LRC has several computers and
other resources to help you with your English outside of
class. The tour will include assistance with getting a password to use University computers.
Saturday,
May 31 1 - 6 pm New Student Tour of Charlotte and Shopping
Sign up at Orientation, Meet the van in the parking lot next to the
CHHS Bldg.
Join other new ELTI students for a ride around Charlotte. We will show you some of the important places in our city and then stop at a nearby shopping center so that you can go shopping.

and listening. All ELTI students, new
and returning, must complete these tests to be placed in their levels.

Pick up your class schedule. To receive a schedule, you must have a receipt showing that you have
paid your tuition and fees. An ELTI teacher will show new students the
bookstore and help them find their textbooks.

Registration for the June 27 ELTI
TOEFL until June 11 CHHS 267
ELTI will offer the Institutional TOEFL on June 27
and August 1. This TOEFL score can be used only at UNC Charlotte. Registration is open to current ELTI students
only. You must be going to class to take
this TOEFL; if you miss more than 20% of your classes before this test, you
will not be able to take it.
Cost: $40.

Change Requests Due
If you think that you
are in the wrong level, you may ask to change by completing a Level Change Request form and bringing it to the
ELTI Office. On Wednesday, June 11, at 4:00, you will meet with a group of ELTI teachers and tell them
why you want to change.

Tuesday, June 6 4 pm Immunizations (New Students Returning in the
Fall)
Brocker Health Center, #18 on the map. Sign up at
orientation.
North Carolina law requires all students to show proof
that they have received immunizations (shots) against a few diseases. Brocker Health Center will give these immunizations today
to students returning to ELTI or UNC Charlotte in the fall. Groups of twelve
students will visit Brocker each hour. An ELTI
teacher will be there to help you. If you have had these immunizations already,
please bring proof before today.
